Seeking to better meet the educational needs of members, the ACCP has decided to hold Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds on the first and third Thursday of each month at 1:00PM Eastern time. The first Grand Rounds session of the New Year will take place at 1:00 PM Eastern time on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
For this session, the ACCP welcomes Stephen Ford, BS, PharmD, BCGP, a clinical pharmacist with extensive institutional experience, to discuss geriatric medication prescribing in the correctional setting. We strongly encourage your attendance.
We plan follow-up sessions quarterly on geriatric topics in correctional medicine. Details of these sessions will follow in the near term.
Dr. Stephen Ford is a board certified geriatric pharmacist (BCGP) who works as a clinical pharmacy specialist at Diamond Pharmacy Services. With Diamond, he focuses on medication management for correctional and long-term care clients. Specific endeavors include medication utilization/formulary management, provider consultation, staff education and Medication Therapy Management (MTM). His previous work experiences include providing clinical pharmacy services for inpatient, outpatient and primary care, including with the VA healthcare system, specializing in formulary management and geriatric patient care. He holds pharmacy-specific certifications in medication therapy management and pain management.

“Managing Polypharmacy in the Correctional Geriatric Population”
Objectives:
- Define polypharmacy and its prevalence in incarcerated populations.
- Identify the unique challenges of medication management in correctional facilities.
- Review strategies for safer prescribing, medication review, and deprescribing in this setting.
- Discuss the role of a multidisciplinary team in managing complex regimens.
Grand Rounds sessions are free to all attendees. CME credit through the American Academy of Family Physicians is approved. Nursing, PA, and Mental Health CEU credit is also possible through agreements between the AAFP and your professional organizations.
We encourage you to invite your friends and colleagues to attend this session, which will inform us on practical measures we can take to improve patient care and risk management in the correctional setting.

Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds are usually held on the first and third Thursday of each month. This month, because of the New Year holiday, they will be held on the third and fifth Thursday.
