For this session of Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds, the ACCP will feature Paul Rees, MD—the current medical director of the Montana Department of Corrections. Paul is a patient advocate in correctional medicine and has introduced innovative programs in that role. He will speak on chronic pain management approaches in the correctional medical setting.

Paul Rees has been doing correctional medicine “hands on” in his role as a physician at the Montana State Prison for nine years after maintaining a large private medical practice. He has been the medical director of the Montana DOC for six years. He’s known among his colleagues for his dedication to his profession and the patients he helps. Paul was recently awarded the Governor’s Award for Excellence for his work at the DOC. Not only does Dr. Rees personally deliver patient care at Montana State Prison, but he nurtures strong relationships with community partners, including mentoring and teaching physician assistant students. He also has experience in Hospice and Geriatric Medicine. Paul is well known to the ACCP and its members for his teaching skills.
