NLN Congratulates Rear Admiral Susan Orsega for Her Appointment as Acting U.S. Surgeon General Orsega Will Serve as a Vital Voice for Nursing as She Helps Lead the Nation’s Response on COVID-19 Washington, DC — The National League for Nursing congratulates Rear Admiral Susan Orsega, MSN, FNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN on her appointment by President Joseph Biden to serve as the nation’s acting U.S. Surgeon General, and the League applauds President Biden for recognizing Adm. Orsega as one of the first nurses to serve in this role.   A career commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service Corps and nationally recognized specialist in infectious diseases, Adm. Orsega is exceptionally qualified to oversee the Public Health Service at this critical time in the nation’s efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
