Meet our new Director-At-Large!

The ACNA held the first ever election for a two year term for the Director-At-Large position. The winner was announced at the Member Meeting on October 20th, 2020. Please read the following and congratulate Banji!

OYEBAMIJI (Banji) ADEBAYO RN, JD, NEA-BC

I count this nomination a great honor, and I strongly believe that the invitation to serve in the capacity listed imposes a duty of commitment and service. As a registered nurse who has practiced for over 34 active years in various settings, in the conventional clinical setting as well as correctional environments. I strongly believe that if given the opportunity I would be an asset to nursing profession as whole and any nursing organization. Since I will be new to the American Correctional Nurses Association (ACNA), the critical things that will guide my ability to serve well and effectively will be to intimate myself with the mission and the vision of the founding members and the governing body of the organization.

The knowledge of these key positions will provide the pointers to where I will be relevant to the organization. Notwithstanding, I joined ready to lend my support in the following ways in addition to other areas that will be indicated by the governing board:

• Advance the awareness of ACNA among my nursing colleagues in my present institution,
• Support the development of programs and tools that will appropriately affirm the vital roles of correctional nursing,
• Be a part of concerted effort that will lift correctional nursing to parity with other unique segment of nursing profession.
• Facilitate the development and deployment of tools to eliminate longstanding misconceptions and assumption in the image of correctional nursing.
• Facilitate membership enrolment nationally.

These are some of the areas that I believe will be relevant for someone that is newly coming into the folds of the ACNA. Thank you for considering my nomination.
